The Euranet Plus debate with MEPs and judicial experts asked if EU citizens really enjoy the right to fair justice within EU borders. What are the limits to a right to a fair trial, and justice in general? Is the right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty fully respected in all the 28 Member States? Are the basic rights of suspects and accused persons sufficiently protected in the EU? Panelist also assessed a potential calendar for the proposed EU Directive on fair trial rights.
The debate was jointly produced by Euranet Plus and RTV SLO, public service, the Slovenian Euranet Plus member station, and hosted by RTV SLO's journalist Breda Čepe (in Slovenian) and Brian Maguire of the Euranet Plus News Agency in Brussels (in English). Students from the campus radio stations affiliated to Euranet Plus from Poland (Radio Kampus, Warsaw) and Croatia (Radio Student, Zagreb) also joined the debate.
